Fame
In my last post I mentioned I had been interviewed recently. Well, I was interviewed by Best Gay Blogs - a site that keeps a check on the latest gay blogs on the blogsphere. You can read my interview here, but for those who can't access the site, I've pasted the entire interview below - enjoy!

Age:
24

Relationship status:
Single - but hope to change that in 2007!

Career/Industry:
IT & Marketing - I fix computers by day and dream up marketing campaigns during my lunch break! Pretty cool, huh?

Hobbies:
blogging, mall hopping, cooking, reading, SHOPPING, andfaithful hours with my PS2.

Special Skills:
I can spot a bad outfit from 20 feet away. Seriously.

Your "type":
This has changed so much over the years that I'm better off dating a mannequin! My type is a smart successful guy who isn't located an ocean away from me.

Anything interesting about you your readers don't already know:
I've only flown once in my life, and that was 2 years ago. Oh wait...you said interesting? No, nothing interesting that I haven't already blogged about :o)

Tell us about your blog:
'out in my head' actually started as a blog that I created on the spur of the moment. I had already been running two other blogs - one dedicated to my poetry, and one about a local radio station and events happening in Dubai. Although both were good and had a decent amount of attention, they weren't really related to me, so I decided to add another blog to my belt, but this one would be my own personal centre stage. And so, 'out in my head' was born! A lot of people ask me about the title and tagline 'out in my head-straights by appointment only' The title really means that in my head, everyone who is gay is out and proud, and it's the straights who are the ones who get the funny looks.

Birth of blog:
November 7th, 2005

Intended Audience:
Anyone who's got some time to spare for a couple of laughs. The blog has also become a way for guys around the world to get in touch with me about gay life in my region, and I have met some truly wonderful guys thanks to my blog.

Number of daily visitors:
This varies - I've seen anywhere from about 50 to 200 a day, but the 200s usually come when I post saucy pictures of myself. Enough said.

What or who inspired you to start your blog?
I was reading Jim's blog 'One Gay At A Time' and I was so touched at the way he would write about almost everything that was going on in his life, especially the way he chronicled his growing years and the ups and downs in his life. Plus, he posts pics of super hunky men with each post!

If you could sum up your blog in one sentence, what would it be?
Gay drama for the masses.

If you had unlimited time, budget and staff, how would you change your blog?
I would definitely add a video section or even a pod cast. Due to time restraints, these are luxuries I can't think about at the moment, so it's simple text blogs for the time being.

How much time a week do you spend on your blog?
I usually spend a couple of hours putting my thoughts together on different days of the week, and saving it all in one draft post. Then I comb through it to make it readable and flow smoothly, and post it up.

How many blogs do you read weekly? What are your top 5 favorite?
Hmm, well here they are in no particular order:

1) One Gay At a Time -
http://www.onegayatatime.com/ - great writing and fab pics!
2) Baan's Spot - http://shebanx.blogspot.com/ my best friend's blog...he's a cutie, so I forgive the horrible grammar.
3) UAE community Blog - http://uaecommunity.blogspot.com/ updates about what's happening in the region
4) The Open Space - http://wicked-danu.livejournal.com/ an excellent gay blog by another friend of mine
5) Dubtown lady http://dubtownbrat.blogspot.com/ - this lass has a wit almost as good as mine!

Tell us about the future:
Well, the future finally sees me going on vacation a lot more! I have a long list of places I'd like to visit, so travel is definitely in the cards for me. I do intend on migrating to Canada, but I have yet to really sit and think about this. The future can bring whatever it wants to...I'm waiting! :)

Give us some coming attractions on your blog:
Possibly a picture gallery and an updated template. Oh and video/podcasts if I ever get around to doing them!

What do you see different in your life 2 years from now?
Moving to a new apartment and hopefully not be single!

Another one bites the dust

Well, another one of my favorite bloggers has decided to step away from the blogsphere. I do admit, blogging has become quite a full time task for people, and in the city where we live, there is just so much to talk about and hardly any time. I'm hoping her decision isn't final, as I just whored out her blog in a recent interview (coming soon!) but wishing her all the best for the future.

Please join me in raising a toast to Dubtown Lady - cheers dahlink, we will miss you!

(Bitch.)

Just a Little Bit

This is an open request to the editor / layout guy / ad persons at Gulf News. Please stop printing the above ad in your magazine(s) for the following reasons:
  1. I do not appreciate you printing pictures of my future husband without my permission.
  2. That guy is too good looking to be in the workplace. I suggest you visit my office and take photos of the real drones that I work with.
  3. You have not included a phone number in case I would like an in-house demonstration of said clothing. As much as I would like to rely on pictures, clothes have to tried on, touched, walked about in, touched, and admired in the mirror. And touched.
  4. I do not want to enter the office in the morning holding a book in front of my crotch after flipping through the cinema listings.

Unwritten

Where are the men? No, seriously - I'm actually asking you. What happened to the decent respectable men that used to once inhabit this planet? Did they finally realize they were too good for us and so they blasted off to live on the moon? I mean COME ON - out of the billions of men on this planet, I can't find one freaking guy to call my own? What the hell??

My sudden rage of course stems from my annual Anti-Valentine mantra. This year it's going to be exceptionally crappy as the one person I thought I would be spending it with is globe trotting. (men have the worst timings - period). So it looks like I will be spending another V-Day at home doing yet another voodoo curse on my various ex-boyfriends. Mine you, it is scarily satisfying to see their photographs reduced to a pile of ash and melted plastic - I'd recommend this therapy to anyone. V-Day really is *so* over rated. I mean think about it - you've got a short fat man flying around with sharp arrows. I'm telling you, it's all fun and games until someone gets stabbed in the eye.

Double Trouble

This is wrong on so many levels...

Kiss Me
Gay men are the easiest advertising targets in the world. Just put a picture of a half naked man next to any product, and we'll buy it. Guaranteed. You don't even have to tell us what the hell we're buying - we're going to head to check out counter like a mindless drone. So it's no wonder than when I got home this morning, I found myself carrying a new pair of jeans. Racking my brains, I remembered the Johnny-Depp-like model who was wearing them on the poster in the store. And of course, he was shirtless, so no further explanation is necessary.

Random life lesson #6768 - Someone will always let you know when you're being too gay.

In other news, Anna Nicole Smith has passed away - now I know it's been a really long time since we talked, but it really is a sad day when you have to delete someone from your phone book. We will miss you, dollface.

Baby Come Back
So, I've had my car for nearly a week now (hurrah!) and am thus entitled to my 'first-week' analysis of having your own car.

Having your own car = FREEDOM
FREEDOM = coming back late
coming back late = no freaking car parking!
Dubai rains = filthy car
filthy car = having to clean car
having to clean car = dirt on white sweater, dirt under fingernails, dirt on pants, water on shoes
People who drive with hazards on = retarded
Sandstorms = filthy car
filthy car = (see above)
People who flash me when I'm doing 80kmph in the slow lane = retarded
Parking in sandy parking area near work = filthy car
6 foot tall guy in a Nissan Tiida = weird looks when you're at a red light
