Proud

I nearly flipped when I read that there was a representative of UAE at this year's OutGames in Montreal.

Looks like Dubai is changing a little bit after all.

It's brilliant!

I think that the dilemma would come if the UAE rep actually won a medal - do you think that the press here would report on it?

:-)

And then seriously, would they ever be able to enter back into the country without being taken away for therapy?

I haven't been hauled to therapy--yet. But some readers (particularly from my Arabic Freneza Arabulo blog) have commented/emailed me to express my insanity.

Dubai is changing, but it's just too slow. (Which is too fast to a lot of people I know.)

I do hope the press would report if the person did win. Although, I couldn't get my hand on the Bowling results--they don't seem to be up yet.

Mind you, the next one's in 2009, Copenhagen.

I went through the Bowling results, UAE didn't win unfortunately :(

But seriously...imagine the hoopla if he/she did win! Hormonoe injections would be first prize!

pity... actually, after the controversy last winter about the Ghantout people, they wouldn't use hormone therapy. They were just sentenced to 5 years in jail.
